We provide contract consulting laboratory services to help our clients resolve flavor, aroma and odor problems. We have over 35 years of practical problem-solving experience with off-flavors, malodors and aromas in various types of foods, beverages, packaging materials, consumer products, etc. We have partnered with GERSTEL Inc., Leco Corp., Infometrix Inc. and Rockford College to resolve problems using today's best-available analytical extraction technologies, GC-MS and GC-TOFMS instrumentation, chemometrics support and laboratory facilities.
Analyte extraction techniques we employ include:
- GERSTEL Twister® in stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) and headspace sorptive extraction (HSSE) formats
- Membrane-assisted solvent extraction (GERSTEL MASE)
- Solid-phase microextraction (SPME)
- Closed-loop stripping
- Purge-and-trap (with conventional adsorbents, as well as with recently developed PDMS foam absorbents)
- Static headspace
- Solvent-assisted flavor evaporation (SAFE)
- We routinely perform gas chromatography / olfactometry (GERSTEL ODP) as a problem-solving tool

We train clients to use GERSTEL's ChemSensor®, a rapid QC tool to monitor industrial production samples and screen raw materials. Additionally, we apply chemometrics (Pirouette® from Infometrix, Inc.) to elucidate chemicals most influencing the flavor / odor attributes of samples.
